2012 Branford

Veterans Day Parade!

The Annual Branford Veterans Day Parade took place on Sunday, November 11, 2012. The opening Ceremonies began on the cenotaph at the rear of the Town Hall. The parade's moderator for the event was U. S. Army Captain Vincent Giordano, along with co-marshals Robert Russell, Commander, Branford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10186 and John Cooke, Commander of the Branford American Legion Post 83. Pastor Steven Chamberlain of the Free Evangelical Church of Branford provided the Invocation and Benediction. Soloist Lia Witten provided the appropriate patriotic music for the day. After the brief ceremonies, the parade stepped-off from the town green, marching west on main St. to No. Harbor St., returning to the green for review. The Parade consisted of various military marching units including the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the 2nd Company Governors Foot Guard, 1st BN 102 Infantry National Guard, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Units, Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps, Branford Town Band, Branford High School Band, (The Marching Hornets), Totoket Fife & Drum Corps, Branford Police Color Guard, The Eastern Vintage Police Car Association, Branford Fire Department, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownie Scouts, Shoreline Antiques Auto Connection (antique cars), and Take-A-Vet Fishing along with a Patriotic Float.
